So a few weeks ago Sundiata and I were having our usual discussion about the state of hip hop. On that particular day we were discussing the effects of what the “dumming down” of HIP HOP has had, is having and will continue to have on the youth and the new generation. Coincidentally this discussion reminded Sundiata of a song that he wanted me to hear that he himself had just recently heard. The name of the song was “Dummy Disease” by Ed E. Ruger.
Long story short… 4 bars in and I was a fan! To me this is probably the realest song to date this year! In “Dummy Disease”, Ruger paints a clear picture of the buffoonery taking place in the current state of corporate hip pop and does an excellent job of bringing the bullshit into perspective!
